Why security is faster than it used to be

Belfast International has a heavy early-morning flight schedule with easyJet, Jet2 and Ryanair departures, and the airport is set up for this. The Airport Express 300 coach runs an effectively 24-hour service, with departures from the airport around 03:40, 04:40 and 05:40, and the taxi rank outside Arrivals operates 24/7. Landside areas of the terminal stay open around the clock too. Airside is a different story: it typically closes overnight, roughly between 23:00 and 04:00, so if your flight is genuinely in the small hours, you will likely be waiting landside until the airside area reopens, and the Causeway Lounge, which closes around 20:00, will not be an option either way.
